College of Economics “Ion Ghica”-Braila, Romania

The 146-year-old “Ion Ghica College of Economics is located in the old part of the city, which is very close to the Danube promenade and became evident by the impact of the economic crisis.

The “Ion Ghica” College of Economics combines the entrepreneurial skills, abilities and competencies that enable graduates to enter the European labor market and society.

The “Ion Ghica” College of Economics aims to provide a quality education by providing a modern material base and benefiting from the competencies of the teaching staff.

The education team of the College of Economics “Ion Ghica”, consisting of teachers, students and parents, will ensure the development of educational partnerships to provide the education and training every student needs to achieve personal and professional success. The vision includes most of the educational variables that the school should consider in its educational approach and focuses on personal and professional achievement that can be understood and adapted to each student’s wishes.

Currently, 914 students aged 15-19 are studying in 35 classes at the school institution.

Students come from different social backgrounds, more than 70% come from rural areas of Braila County, economically disadvantaged areas, 68% from very low-income families, 14-121% of students have parents abroad and other under the care of their grandparents compared to relatives 5-47% receives social assistance, 06. -6% at CES, 4 attends school and two are at home. The students of this education unit are from different ethnic backgrounds: Turks (0.8-8%), Lipoveni (1.2-

11%), Gypsies or Gypsies (2.1-20%) and Moldovians (1.16%) who receive scholarships in our country, Syrian refugees

(0.42 – 4%). There are Catholic (11%), Baptist (1.4%) and Muslim (1.22%) Christian – Orthodox students (85%), Old Rites (1.2%).

In the school, personal development programs are implemented and developed with the integration of psychologist teachers and all academician students into the classroom and school community.

The teaching staff of the school consists of 70 people, 10 assistant faculty members and 17 non-teaching staff. Humanistsocial and scientific basic education is provided by 35 teachers from different specialties. Economic specialization training is provided by 21 professors and 4 practical education professors.

In the context of European integration, “Ion Ghica” College of Economics has made a special participation in projects and programs aimed at achieving the main goals of European education:

1. Multilateral Comenius 2013-2015- “Happiness and Chance of European Youth” – Communication skills, knowledge of new cultures and civilizations, adaptation to new situations, mobility have been developed by students in 5 EU countries.

2. Fun: WoTES “Togheter Working for a European School” collaborated in workshops, following the study methods of students according to the competences gained in vocational education.

3. eTwinning: “Eating habits” aimed at educating and applying rules for a healthy life.

4. Comenius Multilateral “La femme d ‘hier et d’aujourd’hui, d’ ci et d’ailleurs, entre traditions and modernity” focuses on

presenting women in all aspects throughout history. Therefore, cultural, economic knowledge, educational good practices,school flow and extracurricular activities are beneficial for students, teachers, parents and Germany, Slovakia, Greece,Spain, Portugal, Turkey.

Volunteer activities (SNAC), cultural (Europe Day, Judicial Library), sports (chess, football, dance, sports) and ecological

competitions (Let’s do it Romania), these projects have made the school more visible and sought after. The results achieved in recent years are appreciated as good and very good. In vocational qualification certification exams, graduation was 100%, baccalaureate 78%, and labor market absorption of graduates 93.2%.
