We, the teachers and students of 5 countries (Romania, Turkey, Italy, France and Spain), who came together to increase their foreign language proficiency by drawing attention to environment and climate change, discussing these problems and interacting culturally completed the France mobility with various activities on 8-12 April 2024.
Through different activities and presentations related to the environment and climate change, our students increased their English language proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening.
Each country gave a small presentation of a film about the environment and climate change. Some countries made dystopian presentations about the environment and climate change.
We held a “poking” activity where we could influence each other about the environment and nature. Accompanied by mentor teachers, our students participated in the activity of writing small sentences in English to be written on the stairs of the host school. And they did a great job. A local way to enter the energetic and ecological world was presented. And all of these events were held in English.
We visited a vocational high school that produces wine. The high school teachers gave us a wonderful presentation in English. We saw how wooden barrels are made. And that was really interesting.
Participants exhibited local dances, holiday celebrations, traditional clothing, traditional food and traditional children’s games belonging to their own country’s culture. These were simple but practical activities to eliminate the fear of learning a foreign language.
Who knows what the apple tree we planted in the garden of Henri Brulle High School to increase biodiversity will be like years later? Thanks everyone. Everyone should have a tree planted in the world…
And…Our Time Capsule…It was a wonderful and well thought out event. Our students and teachers put their utopias and dystopias written in English into a recyclable time capsule… Dreams were put into the capsule. Messages for the future were placed inside the capsule. And the capsule was buried under our apple tree to be opened 5 years later. The capsule will open in 5 years… Who knows, maybe we will come back to Libourne in 5 years to reopen our personal messages and dreams…
In order to get to know the tangible European cultural heritage, cultural trips were organized to Sarlat, Domme, Troglodyte Houses, La Roche Gajac, les jardins d’Eyrignac, Beynac Castle, Libourne, Saint Emilion and Bordeaux. We immortalized these trips with videos and photos.
It was truly amazing to listen to the digital paintings of “Van Gogh” accompanied by music at the world’s largest digital art center, Bassins des Lumières, in Bordeaux. We were alone with our souls for an hour and felt peace.
Our students have formed wonderful friendships. They got closer and chatted. They shared…They experienced the joy of producing something as a team. And they were sad when they were leaving… They hugged each other tightly. How nice…
